a ragged warship,

anchored safely.

a captain calling

home,

those shore bound

long boats.

no longer seeking

to plant flags,

or hoist guns

for battle.

a decommission.

all sailor's wages paid.

a treaty reached.

i can hear the waves

lapping.

this mooring

is permanent.

bvk, 2019.
